Cambodian Children’s Fund was founded by Hollywood film executive Scott Neeson, who travelled to Cambodia on holiday in early 2003 and found his life changed by the desperate circumstances and unlikely courage of Phnom Penh’s most impoverished children.
After a 26 year-career in the film business, including tenure as president of 20th Century Fox International and a similar position with Sony Pictures International, Scott exited the industry to establish and oversee CCF. He is now Executive Director and lives year-round in Phnom Penh.

Proud to be Indian citizens.
Rasheeda Bhagat
When one of the terrorists holed up in the Oberoi hotel demanded while talking to a television channel “Release all the Mujahideens, and Muslims living in India should not be troubled,” he was certainly not speaking for me. Or millions and millions of Indian Muslims either.
Yes, Indian Muslims today face a plethora of problems. Problems related to an economic downturn that impacts their jobs, if already employed, or makes more bleak the prospects of the unemployed hunting for jobs.
Problems related to galloping food prices shrinking their monthly grocery supplies. Problems related to inadequate and poor quality education putting good jobs beyond their reach. Problems related to the land that they till failing to give them a decent livelihood. And so on.

Ever since Sally Kirkland landed a supporting actress Oscar nom for 1987 micro-indie “Anna” by throwing a few parties for her actor friends and by taking out some “for your consideration” ads, it is widely believed inside the Hollywood community that it is possible for a long-shot actor to score a nomination — even without spending scads of cash.

Posted on: November 27th, 2008 raindance.co.uk: John Truby Breaks Down Changeling
Changeling is a harrowing story of one woman’s nightmare when she tries to find her missing son. For screenwriters it shows the benefits, but also the difficulty, of combining the thriller with the social drama.
Drama is one of the great storytelling forms, but it has become rare in a Hollywood that requires all its movies to have blockbuster potential. Most writers of classic drama have moved to television where the level of writing has never been higher. But to get a drama made in film, you have to combine it with a more sensational genre that can pull in the big audience. Enter the thriller.

Upgrading storage capacity, bandwidth, and network capabilities are incremental large-business expenses that content-creation businesses pay close attention to as the demand to provide ever-higher resolution content increases. The cost to implement greater networked storage capacity and bandwidth has dramatically decreased over the past several years. This is in part due to the ever decreasing cost of computing power, and in part driven by competition for market share among content-creation platforms. Recently, Autodesk has relinquished their lock on their expensive proprietary storage and networking solution in order to stay competitive with other platforms.
Storage and network integrator Jeff Elterman has many years of experience and will tie together the disparate requirements of content creation into a primer for planning a cost-effective roadmap for your business’ content-creation IT infrastructure.
Those who should attend are companies that produce rich media content such as:
* Editorial postproduction companies
* Computer graphics and animation companies
* Broadcast companies

Last week, CNN’s attempt to display the future of TV news ended up making 3D look like the gimmick that it is. Yep, 3D is a gimmick, most associated (outside of CNN) with those stupid glasses designed to fit Blockheads from Venus. But as you know, there are many different scientific approaches dedicated to tricking you into thinking bullets—or other deadly projectiles such as children—are popping out of the screen and coming right at you. Here’s a quick and dirty guide to 3D magic.
Most 3D operates on a single basic principle—tricking our dumb, binocular brain into interpreting a 2D image into one with depth. The most basic way to do this is stereoscopy, which is essentially showing a slightly different image to each eye which the brain mashes together into a 3D image. We’ve broken up the million different ways to do 3D in a few broad categories.
