So you’ve made a film, or you’re making a film, and you want to find distribution? A lot of filmmakers believe that in the world of independent films anything goes and all the rules and regulations are for studio films. THIS IS NOT TRUE! We’d all love to believe the world of independent film is all about art for art’s sake, but if you were to ask any distributor what is the main motivation behind all their acquisitions, they would tell you it ultimately comes down to dollars. Pure and simple just like any other business. While the indie world is obviously more open to original ideas and fresh voices and that remains its true bread and butter, it is still a business and the rules of business apply.
